Generally, waxing provides the longest hair-free period of all the temporary methods.
Don't take aspirin as a painkiller before the waxing session. Aspirin thins the blood and can lead to increased bleeding or bruising. Take ibuprofen instead.
If your pubic hairs are particularly long, trim them down to a manageable length before getting waxed. You want the esthetician to get a clean shape, and at all costs you want to avoid having to remove any extra hair unnecessarily. If the area is trimmed and tidy, it makes the waxer's job that much easier.
Use your bikini or underwear bottoms as a guide for the type of wax you should get. If you wear bottoms with a generous cut, there is no need to get a bikini wax that goes particularly deep. If you decide to be brava and wear a thong poolside, commit to a Brazilian style bikini wax. Brazilian bikini waxes leave you completely bare except for a landing-strip-type piece in front. Expect to go to the waxing salon, take off your underwear, and have your legs spread into all kinds of strange positions. This method is not for muchachas with a low threshold for pain.
Ingrown hairs in the bikini area may be persistent and unresponsive to loofah or regular exfoliation. If this is the case, buy a topical lotion or an astringent formulated to prevent ingrown hairs. If in-growns leave you with post-inflammatory hyperpigrnentation, a twice-daily application of skin-lightening cream on the affected spots fade them.
