Usher Talks Scent and Seduction

These days, it's not enough for a male celeb to be amazingly good-looking and talented. To really round out his résumé, an A-lister needs to have his own fragrance (or at the very least be the "face" of one). And one of our favorite stars to get in on the olfactory action is Usher, who debuted two scents — Usher He for Men and Usher She for Women — back in 2007. RealBeauty recently sat down with the singer, actor, and father of two to get the lowdown on his latest fragrance, VIP, plus what hair and makeup looks he finds sexiest on a woman.

What is it about VIP that you think appeals most to women?

It's a man's scent created for women. It opens with fresh, clean notes of bergamot, tangerine, and kumquat, then as it sits on a man's skin and mixes with his body chemistry, the more sensual woody notes come out. Also, the bottle is like a piece of jewelry, especially the gold cap, which was inspired by my spinning ring.

Do you think it's sexy for a woman to wear a men's fragrance?

Typically, I prefer a woman in a woman's fragrance, but a very confident female could pull off a cologne like VIP. Some women like to have their men's scent on their skin, so I'm not mad at you if you want to wear VIP!
