Joel Schlessinger, M.D. is the president emeritus of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery and is the past president of the Nebraska Dermatology Society. Board certified in dermatology, cosmetic dermatologic surgery and pediatrics, he started his own conference, Cosmetic Surgery Forum (held in Las Vegas), in 2009, which is now entering its second year with over 200 attendees registered this year.
Consistently voted the best cosmetic surgeon and dermatologist in Omaha (now 10 years in a row the winner of the best cosmetic surgeon in Omaha) and one of America's Top Docs, Dr. Schlessinger completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Alabama Children's Hospital in Birmingham. Following this, he completed his dermatology residency at Barnes Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.
He has been in private practice since 1992. In 1997 he started LovelySkin.com, which now is one of the largest skin-care websites in the world, with hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide. In addition to an interest in cosmeceuticals and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Schlessinger operates a clinical trials unit (Advanced Skin Research Center) which has performed over 250 trials in 18 years, including trials on Dysport, PurTox and Xeomin (new forms of botulinum toxin), trials on Liposonix, Revance topical botulinum toxin and over 10 new compounds for psoriasis.
In November of 2010, he opened a flagship retail version of LovelySkin in Omaha, Nebraska, which will offer over 6000 products from 140 skincare lines. This is the first exclusive cosmeceutical store in the United States.
He employs a staff of 50 and his solo practice facility and LovelySkin retail store now comprise over 27,000 square feet in Omaha, Nebraska. He and his wife of 21 years live in Omaha and have two children who are 16 and 19 years old.
