Expert Bio: Dr. Ilyse Lefkowicz

Ilyse Lefkowicz, M.D., has recently joined P&G Beauty's rank of experts as the North American Head & Shoulders dermatologist. Being a sufferer of scalp issues, she understands the importance of a scalp care system that delivers in technology and beauty benefits.

Dr. Lefkowicz, based in New York City, is a Board Certified dermatologist specializing in general and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Lefkowicz attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she was admitted to the University's medical school after her sophomore year. She was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, graduating magna cum laude. After earning her medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Lefkowicz completed her internship in Internal Medicine at New York's St. Vincent's Hospital. She subsequently completed a fellowship at New York Presbyterian hospital department of dermatology where she researched the relationship between UV light, neuropeptides and skin aging. At the conclusion of her fellowship training, Dr. Lefkowicz completed her dermatology residency at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey, where she was selected to be Chief Resident.

Dr. Lefkowicz is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. She has been in private practice since completing her residency. In addition to her work in private practice, Dr. Lefkowicz teaches on the faculty at Mount Sinai Medical Center where she is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Lefkowicz has authored numerous academic papers and has presented at medical conferences.
