The best hair and makeup on TV and in the moviesMiley's Slouchy Stance

Watching Miley Cyrus on the red carpet is always an experience. You sit there, wondering if her and Billy Ray will jump into a choreographed pole dancing routine or if her mother and her will be wearing matching, inappropriate mini skirts. Though (thankfully) neither was the case at the 2010 Academy Awards Miley did forget to bring one thing with her to the red carpet her posture.
Holy slouching, the poor girl could not stand up straight to save her life. She was wearing a beautiful dress, with some mega-eyelashes, but all we could focus on was her hunchback stance and slouching shoulders. We wish Miley had read up on some of these instant posture fixes before hitting the carpet. Her loss is our gain though, and if you have a big event coming up where the Facebook tags will be popping up a plenty, try one of these so you don't have to spend your Sunday afternoon untagging yourself:
While standing...
Imagine a straight line along the side of your body from your ear through your shoulder, hip, and knee down to the middle of your ankle.
Pretend you have a string pulling just your head up to the ceiling; keep your shoulders pushed back and down.
Tuck in your stomach and pelvis.
Let your hands hang behind the side seams on your pants.
Distribute your weight evenly along the full length of both of your feet.
While sitting...
Place your feet flat on the ground with your hips, knees, and ankles creating 90-degree angles. If your legs are short, don't let your feet dangle use a footrest instead.
Sit deep there should be no gap between your tush and back of the chair. Make sure there are about two inches between the front edge of the seat and the backs of your knees.
Support your lower back with a small pillow or a small, soft inflatable ball.
Keep space between your ears and your shoulders by pulling your shoulders back and down.
Hold your chin in line with your chest don't jut it forward.

Carey Mulligan's Hair Education

Short, cropped pixie cuts are popping up everywhere lately. The ladies are proving that you don't have to have long, Victoria's Secret model extensions to ooze sex appeal and that short and sassy might just be the way to go.
It's no secret that I love short hair, but my big problem with this style is that as the warmer weather looms and the humidity creeps in, shorter hair has a tendency to get extremely frizzy. With no ponytail to fall back on, what's a girl to do?
Suave Professional Jenny Cho helped style Mulligan's short 'do and had to tackle this feat when it started raining on Oscar night. Check out her tips below to have a cropped style without the frizzy flyaways.
Apply a dime size of new Suave Professionals Weather Protection 365 Anti-Frizz & Flyaway Cream Gel to damp hair.
Blow-dry hair with a flat Mason Pearson brush.
If you have bangs, sweep them gracefully to the side for a feminine look.
Finish the look with new Suave Professionals Weather Protection 365 Humidity Defying Aerosol Hairspray to "seal the deal" and control the shape of the hair (and hold up to the humidity and the night's events!).
Short, sleek, and you won't look like you just stuck your finger in a socket. What's not to love? Get more information on Suave's new Professional line at www.suave.com.

Exclusive Interview with Castle Makeup Artist Debbie Zoller

Within 30 seconds of talking to Castle makeup artist Debbie Zoller, I was immediately jealous of her. After all, how many women get paid to touch Nathan Fillion's face (without a restraining order attached to it, that is.)? Zoller gave us the scoop on this week's sexy dominatrix episode and how you can get this sultry look at home, without stepping aboard the hussy train.
What was your vision for this episode when you read the script?
This episode was called "The Mistress Always Spanks Twice," and was about an underground dominatrix group. In the past, dominatrix has been done, but in a trampy, Hollywood Boulevard kind of way. I wanted to switch it up and do something really unique and powerful because the women in the episode are not just dominatrix figures. They are powerful, well educated, and most had another job on the side. I got in touch with Rock & Republic to use their cosmetic line because their makeup is so bold and the pigments work great for both day and night.
What products did you use on the ladies to get this New Age dominatrix look?
Ironically we used Rock & Republic's lipstick in Mistress (a very sexy red) and over it Luxe Lip Gloss in Cougar for shine. For the cheeks we used Contrived Pressed Blush in Immoral, a vibrant, bright orange shade to offset the eyes. For the eyes, we used Saturate Eye Color in three different shades on each of the girls, Fatalistic (a black coal color), Fiend (metallic deep blue), and Nailed (a smoky gray).
Your looks have to stay bright all day, especially during the long hours on set. How do you get the cast's makeup to last?
We use primer on all the cast, male and female, because the makeup has to stay on for up to 16 hours at a time. Two I love are the BECCA Mineral SPF Primer, because it comes for normal to dry skin and normal to oily skin types, and Paula Dorf Eye Primer.
This look in particular if done wrong can look a little more slutty than sexy. How did you blend the colors to make sure you didn't cross that line?
Especially with this look, it all came down to the blending. We were using bright pinks and oranges with deep eye shadows, so blending was key. To start, you should have a good palette of foundation. Make sure if it's powdered it sets first and then apply the pigments on top so it doesn't streak or smudge. It's also important to have the right brush. I live for the Shu Uemera and Laura Mercier brushes. They both distribute the strong pigments evenly and firmly. If you think you might be going overboard on color, tap or blow gently on the brush first to get any excess color off. For any makeup, eye shadow, or foundation, the Beauty Blender is such a neat little tool — it does it all!

Kristen Stewart's Edgy Smoky Eye

We live for Twilight in this office (Was that us you saw at the midnight viewing of New Moon? Probably), but truth be told, Kristen Stewart doesn't come off as a glamazon on or off the screen in the few red carpet appearances we've seen her on.
At the Oscars, however, we were quite pleased with Kristen's look. It appeared she was wearing a gown with no holes, she wasn't sporting a mullet, and she didn't have the ever-feared Sharpie eyes that give us goose bumps. Instead, though still somewhat awkward (and not just her — poor Taylor Lautner looked like he wanted to curl up in the fetal position and start sucking his thumb), her fresh makeup look was edgy, without the grunge.
That is exactly what Avon's Global Creative Color Director, Jillian Dempsey, was going for. "We gave Kristen an edgy glam look, with a clean, youthful feeling. We played up her eyes with heavy liner and lots of lush mascara. Her eye shadow was a shimmering, midnight quartz, complemented by peach lips." To get this look Dempsey used her Jillian Dempsey for Avon Kohl Eyeliner in Black (we like a gal who has faith in her products. If it snags us a McDreamy, we'll by the whole supply), DiorShow Mascara in Blackout, and Avon True Color Eyeshadow in Midnight Plum. For her cheeks, she used Shu Uemura Blush in Peach 45, Benefit "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer, and Armani Silk Luminous Foundation. To finish the look off at the lips, she used the brand-new Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Multi-Pencil in Twice as Nice.
We think this look is a win. We also wonder what RPattz had to say about it...
