Zoe Saldana's Out of This World Updo

3/9/2010 4:09:00 PM by Colleen Moody

zoe saldana

Zoe Saldana's dress is becoming one of the most talked-about gowns at the Oscar's this year. At a first glance, I thought "ew," but I realize my judging was extremely unwarranted, as her outfit contains two things I love in this world the most. Sparkles (hello, shiny diamond top!) and ruffles (hello, frilly bottom!). So I say yay to this look. I also say yay to this updo, especially paired with this statement gown. When you go big on the dress, it's important to have an understated yet classy updo. (Can you imagine if she tried to pull off the SJP mega-bun? Issues would ensue.) Zoe pulled off both flawlessly, and that attractive piece of arm candy by her side didn't hurt her look either!

TRESemmé celebrity stylist Mara Roszak tells us how to steal the look:

Apply TRESemmé Naturals Lightweight Mousse all over damp hair and blow dry away from the face with volume, flipping head upside-down when the hair is almost dry to finish.

Separate the crown from the rest of the hair and pull back sides and back into a tight ponytail. Pull the hair almost all the way through, leaving the ends tucked into the ponytail holder to create a half-bun shape. Let a few pieces in the back fall out for a messier look.

Tease the top of the hair, pull back to meet the back, and pin, crossing the bobby pins in an "X" fashion for a secure hold. Spray all over with TRESemmé TRES Two Hair Spray.

Mara's stylist secret: Spray hairspray on fingertips and gently pull the hair around the face with your fingers to loosen the hair, giving it an organic, effortless look.

What do you think of Zoe's updo? Love it or not so much? Tell us your thoughts below and check out more Oscar updos here!
