Where to Shop, Eat and Play in Los Angeles

A nonstop day is a good day. Theres nothing I love more than being on the move. But every now and then, youve got to stop long enough to explore and enjoy whats around you. With L.A. being my home, I know exactly where to go.
1. Food Trucks
Even though Im constantly on the go, a girl has got to eat. I keep tabs on the best food trucks in L.A. via the TruxMap app (available on the iTunes store) and stop by these mobile restaurants for lunch, and maybe even dinner. On the west side, Venices chic but accessible Abbot-Kinney Boulevard hosts a food truck free-for-all on the first Friday of each month. Its one delicious event!
2. Afternoons at Abbot Kinney
I love this place. Its Venices hidden gem. Its a street lined with stores, galleries, and restaurants that appeal to unconventional minds. I go for the unique shabby-chic and sustainable shopping and stay for the fine dining. (Gjelina is my personal fave!)
3. Shopping
I love hunting for clothes that fit my personal style, which I describe as androgyny meets mad (wo)man with a twist of old and new. I can spend hours combing through my favorite fashion brands, which include G.V.G.V., Chanel, Rodarte, Rachel Comey, Helmut Lang, Good Will finds, Tuesday Night Band Practice and Pendleton (American Rag Cie on S. La Brea is the first stop on my list).
4. The Ultimate Palm Springs Getaway
When I need to disconnect and escape the hustle and bustle, I book a room at the Viceroy Hotel in Palm Springs and head for the desert with my dog Cash. Its a fun city thats only a two-hour drive and great for finding retro furniture. But most importantly, I go there to unwindwell, at least until my computer recharges.
