Primping Checklist: Week of June 6, 2011
Our editor-approved list of the products, treatments, and trends to try this week.
Channel British beauties. Ever since TopShop landed stateside last year, we can't get enough of the funky clothes and fresh-faced makeup. While we've found the line's eclectic range of eye shadow shades to be most impressive, it's their shimmering summer launches that we're looking to forward to snapping up for the months ahead. The new highlighter face sticks and lip glazes are the perfect way to get a "cheeky" glow for evening soirées, and the poppy nail polishes come in an array of pedi-perfect colors, befit for Notting Hill- and High Street-girls, alike. us.topshop.com
Get angelic(a) about skin care. Few ingredients pack the skin-refining benefits of the herb, angelica. Found in temperate areas (and even as far north as Iceland), this plant has been used for centuries to cure skin wounds on account of its ability to restore elasticity to and hydrate cells. And, luckily for us, L'Occitane has launched a new skin-care range that centers around angelica. Created for young women who are just starting to see the signs of aging, this six product line includes sheer sunscreens (great for layering under makeup or over moisturizers) and an eye roller stick to erase circles and smooth out fine lines. usa.loccitane.com
Head to a Hilton. Peter Thomas Roth fans should book their summer accommodations accordingly! As of the end of May, the skin and hair company has partnered with Hilton Hotels & Resorts to be the bath line available in rooms at their 540 properties. While we're always stoked about luxe travel-sized treats, we're looking forward to previewing the new Mega-Rich collection (it includes shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and body wash) that boasts a skin-softening proprietary complex of vitamins C and E before it hits shelves this fall. hiltontohome.com
Pick a better deodorant. As temperatures (and tempers...) can soar during the summer months, remember to use a deodorant that neutralizes odors instead of one that just masks them with powder-y fragrances. We like Secret Natural Mineral Deodorant which uses calcium bicarbonate to break down bad scents without making you smell like an 8th grader's gym locker. Formulated with slightly less aluminum that other blends, this solid deodorant still has enough staying power to get you through your day, without needing to reapply after the gym. amazon.com
