Primping Checklist: Week of May 9, 2011
Our editor-approved list of the products, treatments, and trends to try this week.
Clean up your showering style. Don't let your Earth Month do-goodery go down the drain now that it's May, and continue to learn more about greener grooming. Such as, some shampoos, conditioners, and body washes can contain toxins that end up in our water system, indirectly polluting rivers and oceans. If you want to flex your eco-muscles a bit more this week, try shower products that have mostly biogradable ingredients. We like the new Garnier Fructis Pure Clean line.
Sample a luxe, sheer lipstick. Just in time for summer, most of our favorite makeup companies are coming out with sheer versions of their more pigmented signature lipstick shades. We're obsessing over the Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy Balm. It's the perfect lipstick-meets-gloss hybrid and provides just enough color, plus lots of shine.
Maximize your sleep time. Between post-work plans and early morning workouts, it can be hard to catch enough zzz's during the spring time. And that can take its toll on your skin. Use your pillow-time to the fullest and try out one of the new overnight products to help beautiful your mug while you slumber. The Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir, contains glycolic acid and increases cell turnover while hydrating your tired cells.
Extend your tan. Prolong the life of your last spray tan (the cost of those sessions really add up!) by using a gradual tanner on arms and legs. The St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body Lotion gives you a touch of glow sans the stinky odor of most other self-tannersit uses patented-fragrance technology so you can walk out the door without worrying about smelling like a Jersey Shore cast member.
