Weekly Hair Roundup: Mary Murphy and Tyra Banks Hairstyles
How do you know if you can dance? You see if Mary Murphy puts you on the "hot tamale train." Best known for her distinctive, decibel-bending scream, Mary Murphy is the judge who livens up the panel of So You Think You Can Dance. In addition to her positive attitude, enthusiasm, and ear-piercing laugh, Murphy has really ratcheted up her style quotient since season one. She has a long, layered haircut that swings with purpose as she shakes her head back and forth. The addition of bangs keep her look youthful without being overly trendy. If we had a hot tamale train, we'd definitely give her a ticket to ride.
It was a good week for California girls, including the ladies of 90210. Who could forget the show that brought us Brenda and Dylan? What's nice about the new version is that they borrow some of the most beloved characters from this coveted zip code and bring them up to date. We love seeing Kelly Taylor as a guidance counselor, helping her half-sister, Silver. As Silver, Jessica Stroup has the locks so many long for: stick-straight, shiny, and naturally nuanced. This season she is sporting an adorable chin-length bob that complements her features perfectly. Short hair can draw attention to delicate features, perfect for Stroup, letting her natural beauty shine.
Moving from natural to theatrical this week was media maven Tyra Banks. After going wigless on her talk show, Tyra made up for it by going wig-crazy on Gossip Girl. She moved from a huge diva mane to a '20s-style bob and back to long, flowing waves in minutes. We could definitely see her using this footage for an acting challenge on the next cycle of America's Next Top Model. (Connect with your eyes, ladies). We appreciate how Tyra let her real hair show, but we also love to see her as a hairstyle chameleon. Setting a great example, Tyra can pull off any look, and we love a woman who's willing to take risks with her hair. Tell us which look you liked best in the comments.
