TIGI Hair Trends at the Yigal Azrouël Show

As soon as I walked backstage to the Yigal Azrouël show, I was immediately a fan. The wooer? The AHAVA Back Stage Oasis! These ladies had tons of delicious-smelling bath salts to relax after a stressful day (which I will be using tonight!). Not only are these salts perfect for muscle relaxation, they soften skin and give relief from psoriasis, the culprit for red, blotchy, and sometime itchy skin.
Before I tried to make a break for it and sprint to the nearest bathtub (I'm still looking for one around my office), I stopped by the TIGI hair station to chat with stylist Teddy Charles and International Artistic Director at Large for TIGI DJ Riggs. I was obsessed with the look Teddy created, mainly because it was so simple without sacrificing the final result. "Especially for the young, busy, female I wanted to do something that is easy, yet chic at the same time," he said. Now that's the way to a woman's heart.
Riggs gave me the hair rundown. "Teddy decided to create texture in a chic way for this show. He wanted the hair to have a smooth, simple, feel but also have high effect. Since a lot of the clothes in the Yigal show have high collars, he went for a 'fake-out chignon.' You think it's a twist, but it's really a ponytail that fans out, so it gives a nice silhouette."
A ponytail-style hairdo that looks more complicated than it really is? Sign me up, please! To get this look, Riggs let me in on a little hair secret. The main product Teddy used was a generous amount of CATWALK by TIGI Your Highness Root Boost Spray, to the roots of the models' damp hair. "Once you blow-dry your hair, the Root Boost lifts hair from your head so you don't have to use too much product in it. It prevents that slicked-back ponytail look you sometimes do when you wake up in the morning," Riggs said.
Once the hair was dry, Teddy smoothed it into a side part and applied Love, Peace & the Planet by TIGI Freak of Nature for an extra boost and to prevent any flatiron-induced flattening. When that was done, he pulled hair at a low nape position into a loose ponytail, leaving the ends out. To enhance the texture, he ran his hands through the hair while applying CATWALK by TIGI Your Highness Firm Holding Hairspray (this spray is super-flexible, not like the old-school hairspray that gave you helmet hair).
