Snooki's Jersey Shore Poof

12/11/2009 3:55:00 PM by Colleen Moody

nicole polizzi

Part of me wishes I did not have to address MTV's latest reality venture The Jersey Shore, and part of me feels obligated to talk about the mysterious creature we call Snooki. Well, that's not true, you might call her Snooki, Snickers, that little girl, or perhaps something a little less PG, but if you only know one thing about Snooki know this – she invented the poof.

That is a pretty big undertaking for such a little body to handle and though it missed the graces of our best and worst beauty trends of 2009, it is only because this trend is from about five years ago. I'm not judging the poof—I've even rocked a poof of two in my own Jersey dwelling days, but this style simply has no place in society anymore, not even at the Jersey Shore.

Snooki is probably a fan of the poof because it adds some height to her teeny tiny self, but if height is the goal you want to achieve, there are much more stylish ways to go about it.

To give your hair more volume and therefore more height, the process starts in the shower. Wash your hair with a thickening shampoo and conditioner, like John Frieda Luxurious Volume Full Splendor Shampoo. Then, before blow-drying apply a volumizing mousse to your roots like Got 2b Fat-Tastic Thickening Plumping Non-Aerosol Hairspray. If you have straight hair, dry your hair upside down for a few minutes to get more lift at the roots. If your hair is curly, dry by gently lifting your roots up, and be careful not to pull your curls as it can cause frizz instead of volume. (Use a diffuser attachment if you have one). Top off the finishing look with some volumizing hair spray like Ken Paves Volumizing Hair Spray and va-va-va voom! You've just reached new heights with your big, sexy hair.
