Stacy London's Summer Beauty Tips
How do we love Stacy London? Let us count thee ways. We love her spunky personality, her trademark gray streak that she wears with pride, and the fact that the girl owns her super-high stilettos when she wears them. Most importantly, we love her because she knows what she's talking about when it comes to beauty trends! We caught up with London to hear about the big trends this summer, and the "secret beauty weapons" every girl should have handy.
RB: What are some major beauty trends you're seeing this summer?
SL: In terms of beauty, I can't seem to get away from a red lip. Prada has cornered the market for it, and NARS is selling out of Manhunt the red lip to have this summer like crazy. If you can rock it, I say more power to you, but be careful. Yes, wearing red lipstick makes your teeth look whiter but if you have a lot of wrinkles going on, it can also make you look old! It gets really tricky when worn with other makeup, so if you're going to wear it, keep the rest of your face simple.
RB: What are your superhero beauty products you can't live without?
I also have several secret beauty weapons that complement having great style. Moisturizer is one, because having great skin makes it easier for me to wear sundresses. Dr. Scholl's for Her insoles are definitely another. They make it possible to wear high heels comfortably. The average heel this season is over five inches we aren't meant to walk around like that naturally! Obviously we do, because wearing high heels is sexy and makes us women feel confident, so you have to find a way to take control of your own style. I put these insoles in every pair of heels I own in the ball of the foot, where most of the pressure hits. One of the most unstylish things is seeing a woman wearing heels who looks like she doesn't want to be in them, and for that these insoles are lifesavers.
RB: We know you give out tons of fashion advice, but often fashion and beauty go hand in hand. What is one general beauty rule of thumb everyone should follow?
SL: Wear what is right for you, not just the trends. If red lips don't work for you, don't bother. Trends come and go, but if you know your color palette, then stick with that. In order to look your best possible self you have to wear products that are organic to you. If you stray too far from that you look like a little kid who's been playing in her mom's makeup.
Also, wear sunscreen! A lot of people complain that products with SPF in them dry their skin out, so I mix my favorite sunscreen with my favorite moisturizer to avoid this. Don't settle just because you don't like something; make it work for you.
