Meet the Gorgeous Face Behind Roberto Cavalli's New Perfume
We sat down with the gorgeous face of Roberto Cavalli's newest fragrance, Elisa Sednaoui, to talk fashion, scent, and how it feels to join the exalted ranks of past campaign stunners like Gisele and Kate Moss (oh la la!). The Italian model was shockingly beautiful, as expected, but also wonderfully well spoken and intelligent. A real beauty, for sure.
Real Beauty: New York is getting ready to head into a busy fashion week, but your schedule won't be too crazy, right?
Elisa Sednaoui: No, no, because I don't model full-time anymore. I'll go see some shows if I have time but I'm only in New York for the next ten days, and it's nice to just feel like I'm at home. I try not to go to too many places or do too many things. Just specific places with the right people.
RB: How has shooting this campaign been different than anything you've done in the past?
ES: A fragrance campaign is different because it's not something that's only going to be around for a particular seasonit stays as long as possible. You're working on creating something timeless and applicable worldwide. It's for every type of woman, which isn't always true in fashion. Shooting it was really fun though, and we laughed a lot. I was playing a character and with hair and makeup they made me into a Cavalli woman. That's definitely a side of me, that strong and confident woman, but there are also days when I'm just a simple girl. When I look at the pictures now, it's a woman I would want to be!
Perfume is really related to instinct and the Roberto Cavalli woman is strong, empowered, and dares to be herself. At the same time, she knows how to be soft. As women, we need to be powerful and in charge of our everyday lives, but we also need to know how to listen and be soft and sweet.
RB: By accepting this role, you joined a hall of fame of models that've worked on Cavalli fragrances before. How did that feel?
ES: I was so surprised, but also very calm! It was really one of the quickest contracts I've ever done. They told me the news, I said I wanted to do it, and it was done. It's a great honor but I wasn't expecting it at all. It was interesting because people are always telling you, "Oh, you're going to get contracts, this and that" and when you're younger you really want those things! But this contract came right when I'd said to myself, "Whatever things come, it's fine, and if they don't come, it's fine." It's always when you least expect it, right? I don't prove myself through these sort of things. What I'm really interested in is the people I meet and the things I create.
Utterly besotted with the bottle's mix of orange blossom and tonka bean, we had to ask Mr. Cavalli himself where he thinks is the sexiest spot a woman can wear her perfume. He suggested behind the ears since the scent will travel and envelope her audience. But, after a thoughtful pose, he added that a straight line from the cleavage all the way down to the belly button doesn't hurt, either.
