3 Ways to Pump Up Your Ponytail

Whether you loved it or hated it, you had to admit that Reese Witherspoon's ponytail at the Oscars this past weekend was something to notice. That thing was so big, so bouncy, and so My Little Pony inspired it looked like it was ready to pop off her head and do a tap dance at a moment's notice.
Giving your ponytail some life is harder than it looks and in Reese's case, she clearly had some help with a boatload of extensions. For those who want a full ponytail with their natural hair, stylist René Fris shares three tricks to getting one below:
1. Apply a texturizing and lifting spray to hair and blow-dry using a large round brush. Make sure to really lift hair at roots, to create volume.
2. Use a 1 1/2-inch curling iron to create loose waves and movement at the ends of the hair.
3. Gather the hair up into a ponytail high up at the back of the head. As you do this, push hair forward to create lift at the crown. Use bobby pins to keep the ponytail in place. Set the whole look off with a coat of maximum hold hairspray.
