How to Snag Hair Worthy of Housewives Status

We could not have been more excited this morning when scanning the pop culture blogosphere to find out that some serious Real Housewives of O.C. drama is going down. Drinks being thrown in faces! Twitter wars! Tamara being tossed in a pool! Can you stand it? We cannot.
But while we anxiously wait for the new season, we are left to ponder a much more serious question regarding all of the ladies. The question is how can we get our hair looking that freaking good without shelling out tons of cash?
The answer is not in Don Gunvalson's wallet (we are still crying about his split from Vicki), but instead in debunking some commonly believed hair myths that have us spending more than we should on beauty products.
If you've ever taken a trip to the salon, you may have heard in passing that after a certain amount of time, your hair gets used to a certain product and stays stagnate, which is why you're constantly scanning shelves for the latest and greatest. But that isn't really the case, according to P&G expert Teca Gillespie. Gillespie says that since your hair is technically dead, it can't get "used" to a shampoo or hair product. When the feel or texture of your hair changes, it's often because of an environmental change (hello, humidity!), or a chemical in the product you are using that causes build up or a different feel.
But this doesn't mean you should never use a new shampoo ever again. Celebrity stylist Hallie Bowman says that as you age, your hair does too, which incorporates factors like puberty, pregnancy, and other general aging issues that will change the composition of your hair. This is when it's time to switch out your products, not just because you think your hair needs variety.
We'll be testing this trick out to get our hair to superstar, shiny Housewives status. After that, total beauty domination.
