Beach Makeup for Darker Skin Tones

Continuing with our makeup lessons from Swim Week, we've moved from backstage insider info to front row observations.
When we attended the packed Poko Pano show, we had the honor of sitting next to the stage and seeing how the models' hair and makeup looked at an (albeit slight) distance. And, as any beauty junkie knows, sometimes it's the small touches (like bright blush) that can make the biggest difference from afar.
That's why we loved the makeup at this show so much. The models with darker skin tones had hints of golden accents (gold eyeliner along the lower lash lines and gold powder dusted across the forehead and cheekbones) to add a dash of warmth. The amount of makeup used was minimal, but the effect jaw-droppingly gorgeous and ethereal.
We love this use of summer-y metallics as a way emphasize features, while infusing a bit of glam to a beachy look. Women with cooler skin tones can try a light copper palette, instead, or even an icier silver.
