Celeb-Stalking Paris Hilton in Vegas
I spent the weekend hanging out with the Hilton sisters. OK, maybe not hanging out directly, but I did end up in the same enclosed space as them! I headed to Vegas last weekend for a girls' trip and apparently the Hiltons had the same idea. Fresh off her breakup with Doug Reinhardt, Paris was everywhere. We ended up at the same clubs, pool parties — it's like we were destination BFFs and she didn't even know it.
I enjoy a good celeb sighting and living in New York, I get my fair share of them. After finishing my freak-out session about "hanging out" with socialites, I took a second glance at Paris and noticed that her usual short crop was transformed into a head full of hair.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to ask Paris if she was wearing her new line of extensions (I would have liked to, but her security guards kept giving me angry glances as I stood perched on a ledge, blatantly taking pictures with my BlackBerry). But regardless of which brand of hair she was wearing, they were a bit...obvious. Here they are pretty photogenic but up close they looked like extensions, which isn't really the point of extensions at all. We want people to know we have fabulous hair, not know it's not ours. If you're shopping for a new length, try one of these tips when picking hair extensions.
Pick what kind. Extensions range from synthetic to human hair. Human hair extensions can be a little more pricey but have been known to look and (obviously) feel more natural.
Pick a method. Extensions can be put in your hair by several methods. Talk to your stylist about which method (bonding, clipping, braiding, etc.) will work best with your hair type and with how long you plan on wearing your extensions.
Talk about it. Let your friends and beauty buffs know you're thinking about taking the hair plunge — more people have tried extensions than you think. Feeling shy? Check out this writer's journey to beautiful hair to keep your hair secret under wraps.
