Survey Says...Men Care More About Your Hair Than Your Boobs

2/9/2011 10:41:00 AM by Colleen Moody

great hair

If you have five more minutes to spend this Valentine's Day it may pay off to stop squeezing into that tight dress and focus on your hair, according to the latest Pantene survey. The brand asked guys their thoughts on what they notice first when they see a girl and the results may surprise you. Read below to get some of the stats.

-74 percent of men indicated that they notice women because of their hair and 44 percent of men surveyed said that hair is the first thing they notice about a woman, more than her clothes (26 percent), legs (25 percent), or makeup (4 percent).

-82 percent of men indicated that sexy hair is a key element to a woman's overall sex appeal (learn how to get "sex hair" here). Most men surveyed would be more likely to approach a woman at a bar with great hair than a woman wearing a low-cut shirt.

-80 percent of men surveyed said if their girlfriend/date only had time to do one, they would rather she style her hair than put on makeup (19 percent).

-66 percent of men surveyed said they are twice more likely to spot a bad hair day on a woman than a zit (33 percent).

And now, for our favorite stat (drum roll, please)...

-60 percent of men surveyed say they would rather date a woman with great hair than a woman with big breasts and 78 percent of men surveyed consider healthy hair to be a turn-on (who knew your blowout could be used as foreplay!).

Interesting, right? Now that you know how much your hair can make (or break) a first date, try these tips from Pantene stylist Hallie Bowman:

Before a date use a deep conditioning treatment on your hair in the shower. If you color your hair, try Pantene Color Nourishing Treatment. The intense moisturizing formula enhances your hair color's shine and it will leave a healthy glow on your hair that won’t go unnoticed.

If volume is what you're lacking, before your date blow-dry your hair using a mousse or spray gel to set your style. If your hair starts to fall flat during the date, give it a quick fix in the bathroom with an upside down head shake and a mist of Pantene Fine Hair Touchable Volume Hairspray. This will create showstopping volume for a sexy first date look.
