All In for the Oscars

They save the best for last during awards season, and all the stars made sure to make a stop on the red carpet for the last awards show of the season at the Academy Awards. Check out some of the Oscar looks we loved, and some we could do without.
Elizabeth Banks
Ah, a smoky eye done right! In the quest of Goldilocks and the three smoky shades, Banks's makeup wasn't too dark or too light, it was just right. To get a similar look, use a small brush and swipe color all over the lids, especially as close to the lash line as possible. Top off with liquid eyeliner like MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and use a Q-Tip to gently roll over your lids after the liner dries to wipe off the excess color without smudging. Pair with some nude lips for an ultra sexy look.
Nicole Richie

It upsets us to say this, but we didn't love Nicole Richie's Oscar updo. Buns are a great way to add some elegance to your look, but hers just didn't cut it for us for a few reasons. First, her hair is too thin for this high wrapped bun and because of this, you can see how much product was used to get it up and stay. We think she'd be better off sporting a lower bun like Elizabeth Banks, topped off with a hair accessory to tame flyaways.
Mo'Nique

We knew Mo'Nique would steal the red carpet, much like she's stolen our hearts with her performance in Precious. If there is one tip we'd like to snag from her look it's her muted red cheeks. It gave her face structure while bringing out those sultry eyes. When applying, make sure to start at the apples of the cheekbone and swipe upwards. Blush should not be applied to the entire cheek area. For a dewy look, opt for a cream blush like Revlon Cream Blush in Rosy Glow.
Sandra Bullock

The first thing we said when we saw Sandra Bullock was "Ohh, shiny!" This was meant not just for her dress, but her gorgeous sleek and straight locks. We loved her chocolate brown hair with dark caramel highlights. To get a similar shiny look, apply Phyto Pro Ultra Shine Cream for molding and shine. Bullock's dark strands stood out even more with her bright berry lips, making her entire look pop. Get this look by trying one of these similar shades.
And the winner is... Buns!

Buns were the hot to trot hairstyle on the red carpet this year, rocked by almost every celeb we drooled over. From SJP's mega-bun to Amanda Seyfried and Queen Latifah's more understated styles this classic and timeless look won us over time and time again. Play with your hair texture and length to create your own bun style for a hairdo that will last all night.
