Norma Kamali's Fashion Week Advice

Norma Kamali is a fashion force to be reckoned with. She established herself in the industry in the '70s (she designed Farah Fawcett's swimsuit for her iconic bathing suit poster!) and is still turning out pieces worn by the likes of Rihanna and co. The woman's gorgeous, with an exercise regime that would leave a 20-something panting and a natural diet that would make a nutritionist beam. We caught up with her during New York Fashion Week as she launched her 3-D shopping site.
Real Beauty: What are your best fashion week memories?
Norma Kamali: I don't really have anyit's always about work, and it's frantic. I do always feel good when all the work comes together. It's like a sigh of relief on the highest level.
RB: The worst?
NK: You forget the worst memories. That's what you're supposed to do.
RB: What's your take on dressing for fashion week? How can a woman look stylish, but be comfortable?
NK: Ever since we were little girls, we've all been choosing our favorite things. I know there was a time my mother wanted to kill me because I wore the same three things. For fashion week, women should take out their favorite pieces. You'll be feeling good and they'll work for you. You don't need to spend lots of money on new things.
RB: Are there any staples that you make sure to have during the week?
NK: I always have olive oil in my bag. Yesterday, I had this much in a cup [indicates about 2-inches], and I drank it. Everyone eats like crap during this week, and gets bloatedolive oil keeps you healthy inside and out. There's nothing better for skin, hair, eyesit's a great sexual lubricant, too! Good quality olive oil. You can't overdose on it.
