How Fashion and L.A. Move Me

Thanks to the fast-paced world of social media, you can see whats trending around the globe in a matter of seconds. How does that translate into my own personal style? I take beauty and fashion cues from who and what is on the move. Ive always been inspired by movementin fashion, nature, culture, artyou name it.
Whos on the move?
Im inspired by fashion and beauty brands, along with the tastemakers who create them. The people who I see shaking things up are Ben Gorham, Ashton Hirota, Pamela Love, and Tom Ford. Theyve earned the privilege of defining beauty and deciding when fashion becomes fashion. I love how Tom Ford summed it up, Fashion needs to change when life changes. You [or I] only need to move fashion forward when there's a reason to move fashion forward.
Whats on the move?
I was born and raised in California, and Ive visited and lived in different cities throughout the state. Downtown L.A. is where its atits always on the move! And over the last five years, it has become the landmark of a fiercely independent, energetic and creative scenethats what makes it the perfect place to call home and the ideal headquarters for my full-service social media agency (Social House Inc.). Plus, it doesnt hurt that its only a few blocks from L.A.s infamous fashion, jewelry, and arts districts. Together, they form a street-n-alley discovery zone that seemingly welcomes a new boutique, gallery, restaurant, or event each time I turn a corner.
Living in L.A., Im surrounded by movement in the city (unless Im in traffic). Even now the city is buzzing with excitement about the Los Angeles premier of 8, a play about Prop. 8 that was written by Academy Award-winning writer, Dustin Lance Black. I plan to attend the premier, only Ive got to put an outfit together. (When in doubt, I always shop at Confederacy in Silver Lake. When youve got to have the perfect outfit, itll never fail you!) Switching gears to Mother Nature, theres the beautiful Pacific Ocean stretching up and down the coast. And I love to throw on a pair of boat shoes, denim shorts, and a vintage T-shirt, and then make my way to the beach with my dog Cash to watch the waves. Its where I go to remind myself about the beauty of movement and the role that it plays in my everyday life.
