Backstage at NYFW: Hair Gone Wild at VPL
Usually a hairstylist chooses a look and goes with itglossy waves, a pin straight bob, or maybe a crown braid. But when I walked into the hair room backstage at the VPL show, it almost seemed like Bob Recine, the stylist from Beauty.com, hadn't made up his mind. But that wasn't the case at all, he just wanted the models to have a very unique look, and he definitely succeeded.
"Half of the hair is very geometrically correct and then everything else can dance around it," he explained. Using Phyto products and T3 tools he completely flattened most of the hair and then pulled it into a tight fishtail braid. He made sure that the very tip of the fishtail was as pointy as could be. Excess strands were meant to be wild and free, while the rest of the hair remained practically glued down.
