Backstage at NYFW: Bug Eyes at Kenneth Cole
Cool girl chic seems to always be the word on the street around Kenneth Cole, so when I arrived backstage I wasn't surprised that this year was following suit. Between the braided pigtails thanks to the pros at Alterna, and underlined eyes via M∙A∙C Cosmetics, each girl was embodied Harlem in the 80s.
I chatted with Romy Soleimani, the lead makeup artist with M∙A∙C to get the lowdown behind the look. While not exactly what you would expect for an urban gal, Soleimani says she found her inspiration from a beetle (yes the bug!). After creating a base for the color with her favorite product, the MAC 'Pearlglide Intense' Eyeliner in black, she mixed six different pigments, ranging from gold to neon green to create this-insect inspired look. Soleimani said that she only used product on the bottom lid, and the rest was left natural with M∙A∙C Mixing Medium Shine.
How do you feel about colored eyeliner?
