Backstage at NYFW: Rag + Bone Makes History
The second I got backstage I made a beeline straight for makeup artist Gucci Westman. Married to one half of the Rag & Bone team, fashion is definitely in her family and makeup is in her blood. For this season's look Westman finally got her wish: color on the lips! This season marks the first ever time that the brand has ever shown colorful makeup along with their hip clothing.
She used a combination of a matte lip liner and one of her new shades for Revlon (called Carnival) that isn't even out yet. Talk about sneak peek. "The Rag & Bone girl has to be edgy—I tried putting on shadows, I tried putting on liner...and then I took it all off," Westman explained. "There was talk of gloss, but our girl would never be a glossy girl."
She ended up going with a super matte lip, with an orange she said felt like a cool departure for the brand. "It looks really nice with the line, there's a lot of sheen and pastels. Then we just hit the under eye a little bit with this dark metallic color to pick up the light on the runway. These girls are going to look like goddesses."
Would you rock a neon orange lip?
