Backstage at NYFW: Feminine Nails with an Edge at Kate Spade
I linked up with Deborah Lippmann backstage at Kate Spade to talk about the cap-toe shoe-inspired manicure she dreamed up for the presentation. "It's three completely different texturesso you're still playing with that whole roughness thing that is super popular. That's not going away," she said.
To get the look she started with Gel Lab Base Coat on nails with slightly pointed tips and applied two coats of Pseudo Silk Kimono, a milky alabaster white with a matteen finish. She then painted the tip of each nail with Bad Moon Rising (a shimmery pewter), and a thin strip of color below that, serving as an accent and transition to the white base. She used three different hues for the accent strip, It's Raining Men (a timeless red), Groove Is In The Heart (a flamingo pink), and Walking On Sunshine (lemon yellow).
We were especially intrigued by the length and shape of the nails. "It's a longer nail, but its not quite stiletto and its not quite almond... it's somewhere in-between," explained Lippmann. "It's still feminine but has a little bit of an edge." Sign us up!
