Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Straightening Out the Kinks at Narciso Rodriguez
I'll be honest backstage at Narciso Rodriguez were my kind of hairstyles. My never-ending journey for straighter, flatter hair is an uphill battle I always think I face alone, but the Shiseido team and stylist Eugene Souleiman let me know that this minimalist, generic (yes, his words!) straight style was exactly the trend to achieve.
I agree with this - in the old Fashion Week days, designers wanted their models to all have the same look so that the clothes would speak for themselves. And I think we can all agree that when you are wearing a bold outfit choice, it's best to keep the hair and makeup simple.
Souleiman gave the girls a severe side part with a slick front. The stylists were even drying hair with nets on top of the models' heads to squash the hair down even further to get the flattest blowout possible.
To perfect your slicked, straight style use your favorite hair moisturizer (they favored Wella Professionals backstage) and a spritz of hairspray. And just in case you thought the life of a model is all chic and glamorous, this young lady begs to differ with you...
Yikes! Guess when they say pain is beauty at Fashion Week, they really mean it!
