Backstage Report: Milly

The Inspiration: MAC's Romy Soleimani said she wanted Milly's easy look to be "lived in, like a model coming in who's had a few drinks." Ding ding ding!
Makeup: She started with mushroom, putty colored shadow all over the lid before layering three MAC liners: ultramarine, deep metallic peacock Fly-By-Blu, and the classic black Smolder (though she rubbed the last on her hand and applied with a brush for a less precise look). Fly-By-Blu strayed from the top lid as she applied "a tiny bit on the inner corner almost like it was a mistake." Creme d'Nude lipstick was used on the cheeks for "a subtle, healthy flush" and then was mixed with Cremesheen Creme Cup for the actual kisser.
Hair: Kevin Ryan of Rsessions Tools was on hand to give the girls messy ponies affixed with tulle bows, ready for runway looks that included lots and lots of hats. He used Blow's Heat Is On mist to protect hair before drying and spayed Beach Blow to "muck it up." According to Ryan, using salt spray on wet hair helps get a certain "oomph" that's perfect for giving hold and style to slightly undone updos. "If you look good, you hair doesn't have to look too well done," he assured us.
Nails: CND's team was on hand to manicure everyone with a gorgeous navy called Midnight Sapphire. "It's all about the woman who's put together to a tee," said Candice Manacchio, one of the brand's experts. "Navy goes with all the pieces in the collection. It works with neutrals or brights!"
