Rising Plastic Surgery Trend: Men Going Under the Knife
If you've ever caught an episode of The Real Housewives you know that when it comes to plastic surgery, women are not afraid to go under the knife to look good. But what if we told you that the newest plastic surgery trend isn't a nose job or facelift, but that more and more men are starting to get work done.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in 2010, 87 percent of the cosmetic surgical procedures were done on women, 13 percent on men. This is a huge difference from 2009, when 92 percent of the plastic surgery procedures were done on women.
So what were some of the 1.1 million cosmetic procedures done on men? In 2010 facelifts rose 14 percent, liposuction increased 7 percent and breast reductions rose 6 percent on men. Plus, the ASPS says that more of the "Average Joe" man are starting to get work done in addition to baby boomers, who financially have the means to do so.
