Laura Mercier Makeup Trends at Pamella Roland

Backstage at the Pamella Roland show at New York Fashion Week, things are hectic per usual. Models are being dressed, hairspray fumes are taking over the room, and I am fixated on the look Global Makeup Artist Tayaba Jafri for Laura Mercier has just created. Primarily, the gorgeous shade of red lips the model is wearing.
"Pamella's inspiration was Venice, shimmering canals, the works. We took that and turned it into a more luxe, mysterious, romantic look. It is definitely more lip focused," Jafri said. Lip focused is an understatement! These lips had great volume and a color that could really steal the show. To get this look, Jafri used shades from a collection that hasn't even hit the shelves yet, called Mystique. She started with Very Cherry Lip Liner, Bing Cherry Lipstick (Laura's current favorite shade), which Jafri also said is a perfect shade for fall, as it's not overly bright or red. She then topped that off with Plum Noir Lip Glaze, blending the two together into a deeper, blood shade.
For the eyes, Jafri blended a blue-gray and a sea green shade, finished with Black Caviar Eye Liner up to the lash line for a soft, sheer, clouded look. "We extended the shades out, not vamping it up," she said. "There is no heavy eyeliner that you can actually see, it's ambiguous. For the cheeks, we kept them muted with Wild Bouquet, a very neutral blush to complete the entire look."
