Backstage at NYFW: Kiss Nail Dress for WHIT

Before the WHIT fashion show at the W Hotel, in the midst of all the models and makeup artists hard at work, I was able to quickly chat with the lead manicurist, Gina Edwards, who chose to use a nail appliqué, Kiss Nail Dress in Teddy, on the girls.
Real Beauty: What was the inspiration for the collection?
Gina Edwards: Singer/songwriter and actress Marianne Faithful, who was famous back in the late 60s to early 70s. She has the girl-next-door feel, and we wanted to do a nail that really complemented that, but still showed her rocker edge.
RB: Why do you think these nail polish stickers are so popular right now?
GE: They're perfect for that girl who's on the go, busy at work, busy going out at night, and doesnt have time to go to a salon. This is something she can do in 10 minutes, and run out the door. I absolutely love them.
RB: What sort of nail trends are you predicting for fall?
GE: Lots of dark colors, like really deep greens. And of course, grays will be big as well.
RB: Do you have any tips on how to make a regular DIY mani last longer?
GE: You'll need to re-apply a top coat every two to three days, and make sure you swipe the free edge to prevent chipping.
