Keira Knightley's Eyeliner-Only Smoky Eye

keira knightley

We've seen some amazing celebrity looks the red carpet and some we wish we would forget, but every so often there is one actress who is a consistent hair and makeup force when it comes to premieres. Her name, is Keira Knightley. As if she couldn't get any more gorgeous (those cheekbones!), Knightley had to go and get herself a new short cut and showed up to the premiere of Never Let Me Go dripping in pearls.

Though the girl has been blessed with beautiful bone structure, we were mesmerized by her hazy smoky eye created by Katie Lee, CHANEL celebrity makeup artist. Read below to see what Lee's inspiration was and how you can recreate this look for yourself using just eyeliner and neutral shadows (dripping in pearls part not included).

"Keira is one of my favorite canvasses," says Lee, "she has beautiful features, so it's always hard to choose which one to play up. I went with eyes, as I thought a strong elegant eye would look great with her new cut."

To make the look more modern, Lee used strictly cream shadows and CHANEL Intense Eyeliner in Noir inside the eye and along the bottom and top lash line (she also crept it up onto the outer third of the socket to add depth). After lots of gentle blending she used Nars Duo Cream Eye Shadow in Thebes to the center of the lid and also to the brow bone to add a glow and create dimension. Last, she curled the lashes, giving them a coat of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir and added a few clumps of Ardel lashes in a random pattern. Her lips were touched up with CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Perle, and cheeks sculpted with CHANEL Powder Blush in Imprévu.
