Karl Lagerfeld Joins in on the Olympic Festivities

Designing fiend Karl Lagerfeld is at it again. The white-haired industry fixture celebrated the opening of his very own pop-up shop at Selfridges in London last night flanked Poppy Delevingne, Daphne Guinness and more It Girl Brits.
But of course, in true Karl fashion, he debuted not one but three collections: Karl, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, and Team Karl. Team Karl, the most talked-about addition, is the designer's answer to all the Olympic hype. It is comprised of skinny jeans, leather jackets, T-shirts, sequined collars, sunglasses, and more—most of the garments, appropriately enough, are speckled in gold.
The line's logo features the image of a gilded Lagerfeld (in a suit, no less) tossing a discus into the air. This likeness is emblazoned on of the T-shirts, as well, with a few showing the Olympic torch and other Games iconography.
No important fashion fete is complete with out a gaggle of A-listers: Daphne Guinness, Rosario Dawson, Edie Campbell, Alison Mosshart, and Hilary Alexander were among the party-goers.
And while he may be a fan of capturing the Olympic games in a clothing collection, you won't find Lagerfeld tuning in to the opening ceremonies on Friday night, according to the Daily Mail. "I like the idea, I like the people, but the performances, they are something of a little unhuman now," he said. "I like the image and the idea better than to watch it." Oh, Karl.
