Backstage at NYFW: John Frieda for Zac Posen

At Zac Posen, John Frieda Global Creative Consultant Luigi Murenu, created a messy, modern update to a classic chignon. Backstage, Murenu revealed the trick to crafting such a unique updo: a crimping iron. Yep, crimping.

"I wanted to do something a little more deconstructed, but still elegant," he says. "So I used a crimping iron to get a crisp feeling that was still light. It's very controversial in a certain way since it's not just straight or curly. I say, why not? We are here to experiment!"
