Jillian Michaels and Her Angry Brows

12/9/2009 5:33:00 PM by Colleen Moody

jillian michaels

Watching The Biggest Loser is the equivalent to going through a tumultuous relationship. You laugh, you cry, you cry some more, eat a little ice cream, feel bad for eating a little ice cream, and then walk away feeling absolutely exhausted even though you did absolutely no physical activity. Last night's finale was no different. I was elated for the winner but I was also elated for myself for the sheer fact that the season was over and I could take some time away from the fierce fitness drill sergeant Jillian Michaels.

It's not that I have anything against Jillian Michaels, in fact sometimes I imagine her face on the treadmill when I need to squeeze out an extra five minutes. It's just that she's a little too intense for my liking in the brow area. Now, this may be on purpose to whip her team into shape, but her angry brows seems to have a mind of their own with one single goal – total gym domination through deadly stares.

This look may be necessary for Michaels, but if you don't want to make small children cry at the mall it is not necessary for you. You can have beautifully sculpted and defined brows without looking angry. If you tweeze your eyebrows at home, follow these tips:

Brush eyebrows upward, trimming any stray hairs with a scissor (an eyebrow scissor, not the pair from your kitchen).

Use an eyebrow pencil as a guide to determine where your brows should start, and how high the arch should be. The space between your eyebrows should be equal to the width of your eye, and the inner edge of the brow should start above the nostril. To determine this, hold the pencil diagonally from the nostril and extend it to the end of your eye; that will show you where the brow should end.

Determine your arch by holding the pencil connecting the nostril to the outside edge of the iris. Then, using a slanted tweezers like Tweezerman Slant Tweezersto pluck and shape your arch, being extra careful not to over pluck!

This will help give you a natural shaped brow, so you can leave the angry staring to Michaels on the Biggest Loser Ranch.
