Backstage Report: Jenny Packham Fall 2012

The Inspiration: Noir naughtiness met old Hollywood glamour, as Jenny Packham sent her catwalkers down the runway with retro chignons to match her 1940's-esque frocks. Which begs us to wonder, will we be seeing Packham-fan, Duchess Catherine, rocking victory rolls anytime soon?
Makeup: Flawless skin comes first with vintage vampiness. Laura Mercier makeup artists created a hydrated base with the Repair Oil-Free Day Lotion, over which they layered the Silk Creme Foundation to mimic the diffused effect of old-school lighting. The look was punctuated with defined brows (they used Mercier's Brow Definer) and prominent pouts. The latter was achieved by blending Creme Smooth Lip Color in Cocoa and Merlot over lips, before dabbing Pink Blush in the middle of the pucker and applying a final lacquer of Pink Pearl Lip Plumper all over.
Hair: L'Oréal Professionnel lead hairstylist Leonardo Manetti used foam shapers to create the base structure for these architectural 'dos. The key to executing complicated retro styles, like this one, at home is to section hair evenly and precisely (you might need a friend to help out), and to use color-matching hairnets to hold bunsand wispies!in place.
