Royal Wedding Commentator India Hicks Shares Her Beauty Secrets

India Hicks is no stranger to royal weddings. As Prince Charles's goddaughter, Hicks was one of Princess Diana's bridesmaids. Today, the aristocratic designer and former model collaborates with Crabtree and Evelyn on two body and home collections. And because of her big day experience, she's been poached to be a television commentator for the royal nuptials. We caught up with the elegant-meets-boho beauty before her speaking gig to get the inside scoop on her top-tier beauty habits. Here's what she said:
Real Beauty: How would you describe your beauty philosophy?
India Hicks: I try to focus on how to enjoy all that life has to offer. We should not lose sight of our own values, peace of mind, and freedom of spirit . We should look after our own well-being and appreciate our own individuality.
RB: Living in the Bahamas, what are your favorite products for sun protection?
IH: The hardest part about living in the sun is staying out of the sun. It's essential to use sun block every day, drink lots of water, sleep well, exercise regularly and most importantly, stay happy and positive. Nothing makes a person more beautiful than happinessinner beauty shows on the outside.
Some of my other favorite sun products are Benefit You Rebel moisturizer which has a slight hint of color and contains SPF, which softens skin with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, and Nivea Moisturising Sun Spray SPF 30. The bottle is well-designed bottle and I trust the instructions, so I happily use this on my children and myself.
RB:What are some of your favorite beauty products?
IH: With four children, and more projects than I can count, I have little patience for complicated beauty regimes. I keep my makeup routine to a bare minimum and love products that serve more than one purpose. I wash with soap and water. In the evening, after a run, I have a soak in the bath using my Island Living Spider Lily Bath Salts, as they are a combination of muscle-relaxing mineral and epsom salts. I use my Island Living Spider Lily Body Polish on my body to exfoliate and get ready for the day. I love a good Mason and Pearson hairbrush. Crabtree & Evelyn Citron Antibacterial Hand Gel is the ideal size for travel and you dont have to struggle to get to the bathroom as it kills germs without water!
And I love this natural warm banana hair mask for restoring vitality to strandsespecially after exposing it to sea, sun, and salt water. Wrap one tablespoon of warmed olive oil into one mashed, ripe banana. Apply this to wet hair beginning at the roots and working your way down. Wrap your head in a hot towel and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water to seal in shine before shampooing and conditioning as normal. The oil will replace lost oils and recover the hair's natural shine. Mash the banana and set aside. Warm the oil gently and add to the banana mash.
RB:How do you stay in shape?
IH: A close friend always says that I eat like a wolf but run like a fox. Ive trained for two marathons - running is my passion. It gets me in the fresh air wherever I am in the world and is a wonderful way to stay in contact with nature, as I will run in the countryside, on a beach or in a city park. I try my best to carve out an hour a day to run along the pink sand beach with my two dogs I may run slowly but I run far.
