Want to lighten up for summer? You're not alone, beauty buffs. Celebs (plus myself included – though I'm definitely more in the beauty buff category and way less in the celeb category) are lightening their locks to the newest hair color craze, "bronde." What is bronde, you ask? Basically, a mix between your natural brunette, with tons of sun-streaked blonde highlights everywhere — like our friend Jennifer Lopez here.

Now the big question, why go bronde? I wondered this too until my stylist recently told me at my last color job when I asked to go blonde that I wouldn't be able to pull it off. After I sulked for a little he explained. My eyes were too warm to pull off a cool blonde and platinum wasn't really the shade I was going for. Thus, we settled on bronde and though some people notice and some just think I spent a weekend at the beach, I'm loving this new hue. As celebrity stylist Kim Vo, who coined the term explains it, "if blonde and brunette had a love child, it would be bronde!"

If you want to try bronde on for summer, Vo recommends painting a few select top layer pieces of hair using two different volume lifting crèmes. This will give you a beachy look with tons of volume and dimension. If you go to the salon for your look, keep your color in check with Kim Vo Brilliant Luster Glaze, and massage in hair once a week for five minutes. Get on with your bad bronde, girl.
