Designers Make Over Your Medicine Cabinet

9/7/2010 2:00:00 PM by Ariana Finlayson

This Thursday (9/9) kicks off New York Fashion Week, where designers will show their collections for Spring/Summer 2011. Two of our favorite female designers, Cynthia Rowley and Betsey Johnson, will be showcasing their lines on the runway. Over the years we've fallen in love with Rowley's timeless sophisticated designs and Johnson's "girls just wanna have fun" approach. Although you may not be able to afford your own pieces from the designers' lines, they've hit the mass market with these two medicine-cabinet staples, perfect for any fashionista.

BAND-AID® Brand by Cynthia Rowley

Why we love them: Nude bandages are anything but attractive, plus the SpongeBob design that we stole from our nephew's collection doesn't really go with fall's military jackets. Rowley partnered with BAND-AID® to create limited-edition designs (shown above), which let us adorn our boo-boos in colorful sequins, runway models, and gold chains.

Bonus: $1 from each sale goes toward Design Ignites Change, an organization that connects students interested in design with architecture projects in their communities that address social issues.

Where to buy them: $10, cynthiarowley.com

Tweezerman® Betsey Johnson Slant Tweezer Collection

Why we love them: We use Tweezers to extract the most painful things like tiny splinters and stray eyebrow hairs. Johnson's fashionable designs in the likes of roses, skulls, and beauty icon Marilyn Monroe herself make the painful process a little more attractive. Not to mention, they spice up our medicine cabinet and stand out among the mundane packages of contact solution and dental floss.

Where to buy them: $25, sephora.com
