Cynthia Nixon's SATC2 Extensions

When you have to walk down a red carpet with Sarah Jessica Parker, it's hard not become the neglected little sister. After all, the woman wore a storm cloud on her head at this week's Sex and the City 2 London premiere. So as to not blend in with the tourists, or perhaps because she was fed up with being stuck behind the big headgear, Cynthia Nixon pulled a hair trick out of her own hat this week extensions.
Typically, we would worry about sporting extensions on a red carpet, but Nixon did it tastefully and what's even more refreshing age appropriately. She's not wearing bleach blonde hair down to her butt. Instead, she opted for pale strawberry blonde locks that graze her collarbone, making it noticeable but not obnoxious that she's wearing them.
Nixon is actually a natural blonde who goes red only for SATC purposes. With her hair usually no longer than her chin, these extensions are a fun way for her to change up her look while slowly transitioning back to her normal color.
If you're in the middle of a color change and get extensions, take these tips away from Nixon:
Go for multicolored. Take a peek at the underside of Nixon's hair; it's anything but one color. Whether her extensions were dyed professionally or purchased as is, by mixing your color now with your transitioning color (in this case blonde with hints of red mixed in), you can pull off a more natural look.
Pick the right length. Nixon's shoulder-length hair is proof that you don't need to go all out when trying on a new length. If she walked down the red carpet looking like she went to the salon with the Victoria's Secret Angels would we take her seriously? Probably not.
