Chrissy Teigen's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Secrets

The newest Venus razor, a hydrating, no-shave-cream-needed pick made in collaboration with Olay, has been deemed the official razor of the 2012 Sports Illustrated editionand with all the miles of legs shown off in those hallowed pages, you know it's gotta be special. We chatted with the gorgeous Chrissy Teigen about why it has a spot in her shower. As a past S.I. girl herself, fiancée to sexy singer John Legend, and twice-a-day shaver (!), we took her every word as gospel.
So how do those sexy shoots go?
Teigen, in her third year with the swimsuit issue, says it's a mix of relaxation and work. "It's an honor to be called back. Sometimes you don't even know if you're going to do it until you get the call sheet in the mail! You get two days before in this gorgeous location to relax, and then the day right before the shoot is all about the skin. You get exfoliated from head to toe to help prep for your spray tan." One of her favorite locales was her first: the Maldives. She returned with then-boyfriend John Legend and he ended up popping the question!
Bikini babe fashion.
"We don't even see the magazine until the day it's released," she says about the big reveal. The one thing she can usually count on? Wacky outfits. "I've turned around and seen someone dragging a palm tree, and said, 'That's my next suit, isn't it?' I've definitely had some weird stuff placed on me."
They surf, the models shave.
"If there's any less suit, it's gonna be wrapped in plastic," Teigen says of the iconic swimsuit edition. She shaves frequently and makes sure not to miss a spot since the downy hairs that normal mortals don't even notice can get picked up by a photographer's lights. During breaks on set, "the photographer and his assistants all go surfing. I go back to my room and shower and shave again!" To avoid irritation, Teigen exfoliates every time she bathes (she's a huge fan of this sugar scrub) and uses lots of thick lotion. When it comes to traveling for shoots, she loves that the razor's moisturizing bars take the place of shaving cream: One less bottle to get through TSA security. Teigen's also a nut about the scent. "I personally can't go a day without holding it up to my nose. They smell like creme brulee to me!"
Out of the swimsuit, it's all about natural beauty.
In real life, the statuesque stunner likes to keep things pretty simple. She likes using Phyto volumizing products and preaches the gospel of air-drying her strands. "I was doing safe, beachy waves all the time, but I have this thing where I love wearing my hair up. Much to the dismay of my agency and my fiancée, a top knot makes me feel really clean and like my whole body's elongated." Her New York apartment also has the convenience of being above a blow dry bar where silky smooth strands are just $25 a pop. Needless to say, Teigen's a frequent customer. She's a product junkie, too. "I've never gotten out of Sephora for less than $400. And now they have that same-day delivery service in Manhattan it's bad!"
And the wedding?
"I've always wanted an autumn wedding, but this fall's too soon, and then he has an album coming out in the summer...so it's looking like spring 2013." Whittling down the guest list has proven to be the hardest part so far, and the bride's not counting on day-of serenity. "I'm gonna have a panic attack."
