Charice Pempengco Gets Botox for Glee

We've seen many a Real Housewife do it, not to mention countless stars, but when's the last time you saw an 18-year-old get Botox? Filipino teenage super-singer Charice Pempengco, who was discovered after appearing on Oprah and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, got her skin tightened and an injection of Botox for her upcoming appearance on Glee, so she would look younger and thin out her naturally round face.
"All people will be anticipating how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure," she said in an interview at ABS-CN television. Her remarks are naturally causing a bit of a stir. Many of her fans are disappointed that the teen thought she needed cosmetic surgery, not to mention her extremely young age to undergo such a procedure.
When I was 18, I wanted to look older. I wanted to get into places I wasn't allowed and I contemplated wearing my sister's makeup (actually, I did wear her makeup), but never wanted to turn the clock backward. It's sad that a beautiful girl with an incredible voice thought she needed to take such drastic measures. Is it society's fault for putting the pressure on women and girls to look young and flawless, is this bad judgment on her part, or is it not a big deal?
