Celebrity Eyebrow Trends

If you think you can stop worrying about your face after you swipe on some eye shadow, think again. The times are changing, and now it's all about the brows! If you think about it, eyebrows really determine your whole personality. There are angry brows, sad brows, confused brows, not to mention "where are your brows?" after a wax gone bad. Needless to say, there is a lot of pressure on those two tiny strips above your eyes, so it's important to shape them right.
Anastasia Soare is considered the brow guru for all A-list celebs in Hollywood. She helped shape Julianna Margulies, Penélope Cruz, Jane Adams, and Jennifer Garner's brows for the Golden Globes this past weekend. Check out her tips below to get the best shape for your face and the latest brow trends.
How many days/weeks before a big event should you have your eyebrows done?
"I prefer three to six days before as this gives the skin enough time to be even with the skin tone of the face. When we remove hair with wax, the dead skin is "exfoliated" off and can be slightly lighter in pigment for a day or two. In addition, in the event that there is any redness at all, we want to be cautious and avoid this by shaping ahead."
Should brows look more natural for a big event?
"Award shows, red carpet events, and all big events are really the perfect time to vamp up with a glam look, especially for celebrities. The stars will be very glamorous and not in everyday clothes, so their brows should really embody the glamour of Hollywood."
What are the latest trends for eyebrows that you saw at the Golden Globes?
"Brows will follow closely with hair, and I have the feeling that the ultrafeminine is back, thanks to all the vampire stories like True Blood. Popular trends are high-arched and of a medium to thick shape. For the Golden Globes, we used pencil and powder to highlight the brow corners as well as the beginning and end of a "power shape." Think of Dita Von Teese as a modern example of your ideal Golden Globes brow this year."
