Beauty Fail, Beauty Score: The Right Way to Wear Gold Makeup at Carlos Miele

Metallics are definitely hot to trot when it comes to fall makeup trends - but how do you wear it sparingly to get an ultra chic look (like the models at Carlos Miele, right) instead of a grunge, glitter-gone-bad style like Ke$ha (left)? Lead makeup artist for Maybelline Gato tell us how below.
The inspiration behind the makeup at Carlos Miele was "The Golden Age" and no, we're not talking about the good 'ol days your parents sit and reminisce about during family dinners. Gato wanted this look to represent a woman, no matter how old, at the time in her life when she feels the most beautiful. To achieve this, gold was speckled throughout the entire face, not just on the eyes. Using Maybelline Eye Studio Quad in Give Me Gold the models were dusted with a neutral gold over the entire lid and then a bright pop of gold shimmer in the corner of each eye. To make the eyes really pop, Gato coated them with several swipes of Maybelline The Falsies Mascara.
For the cheeks, the girls were highlighted with Fit Me! Bronzer in Golden Tan on the apples and for the lips, Gato used Color Sensational Lip Color in Totally Toffee and Color Sensational Lipgloss in Sandstone Shimmer (which even had tiny flecks of gold in it) to get a glow a Greek goddess would be envious of. The key here is to use a little bit of gold all over your face, rather than smearing it on your eyes a la Ke$ha, who looks like she just got spit out of a glitter garbage disposal.
What do you think of this look? Do you ever wear gold makeup?
