BeautyBar.com Opens a Store!
In a web-comes-to-real-life twist, Amazon-owned BeautyBar.com just opened its first store in Long Island's upscale Americana Manhasset mall. The brick-and-mortar beauty destination is stocking about 50 of the roughly 150 products available virtually, and is upping the ante by including a spa menu and an outpost of the area's popular nuBest blow-dry bar. Lured by the promise of a product junkie's heaven, we left the office for a field trip.
The store is gorgeous, and with neighbors like Hermés and Prada, shopping instantly felt more luxe. The dot com has everything you could think of, while the physical boutique is nicely curated and a good representation of lust-worthy brands that are hard to find (Bond No. 9. Butter London) and those that deserve more mass discovery (By Terry. Ren.). Curious shoppers can try before they buy by springing for a facial in the downstairs treatment room that uses products sold en shoppe.
While we don't expect to see Amazon start introducing all of its brands and sites to the physical shop world (a storefront Amazon.com would be kind of overwhelming to say the least), we're giving the Beauty Bar outpost our editor stamp of approval.
What do you think? Do you live in the area, and if so, will you be stopping by? Would you if you could? (We're talking to you, Cali girls and midwesterners!).
