Backstage at the Creatures of the Wind Fashion Show

Dying to know what goes on backstage during fashion week? I took a peak behind the curtain at Creatures of the Wind, where statuesque riot grrls roamed amongst puffs of hairspray in the basement at Milk Studios.
To get that fast and careless, just-ran-out-the-door look, NARS makeup artist James Boehmer skipped the eyeshadow and instead dabbed NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil in cranberry across the models lids. To make the red more wearable, Boehmer added silver highlighter under the eyes and brightened up the lips with a touch of NARS lipstick in Fire Down Below.
Hairstylist Odile Gilbert went full-on 80s, taking cues from origami to create the look of a haircut without actually chopping any locks. By folding hair from the back across the top of the head, Gilbert gave models DIY bangs, then stretched a net across the entire style to lay everything flat.
Keeping the clothes and hair in full focus, celebrity manicurist Ana Maria Gheorghiu opted to give the nails a subtle nude color. To get the look, apply two coats of Essie Topless and BarefootGheorghiu says the opaque rosy-beige shade looks great on all skin tonesthen swipe Matte About You on top for a chalky finish.
