Backstage Report: BCBG Max Azria
The Inspiration: Athleticism was the word backstage at BCBG. "I wanted the girls to look like they were out running, came home, took a shower, and looked fabulous," said makeup artist Charlotte Willer. "There's a little bit of a track-suit [feel] going on," explained Neil Moodie, hair genius for Bumble and bumble, "I combined that with the softer feeling of chiffon you see in the clothes."
Hair: Moodie used Bumble and bumble prep spray and thickening spray on all the models to start, before coming Bumble and bumble gel through the hair (starting at the hairline and working it to just above the nape of the neck). "It's very Barbara Bach from James Bond when she comes out of the water and runs her hands through her hair," said Moodie. The rest of the hair was gently curled with a large barrel iron.
Makeup: The models looked natural, and the makeup application was quick. Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm was used on both their lips and eyelids in true Lazy Girl style. A little blush completed the just-rushed-here look, applied on the part of the face where you naturally color, said Willer.
Skin: To even out each model's complexion, Maybelline Fit Me! foundation was used all-over as a second skin.
RB's Insider Tip: Experienced makeup pro Willer encouraged women to be playful with their makeup. Play with daring lip colors like bright red or new eye shadows and then "take a snapshot of yourself. How you look in the mirror isn't how you really look."
