It's obvious that ponytails aren't just for the gym anymore. With stars rocking them left and right on the red carpet, this staple updo has given the chignon a run for its money. Read below for these steps from Frederic Fekkai's Adir Abergelto get a textured, messy ponytail like the one he did on Anne Hathaway at the LA premiere of Rio.

1. To start, apply Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip throughout your hair. Rough dry hair with your hands to bring out your natural texture. With a round brush, blow-dry the rest of your hair straight.

2. Curl your hair using a 1 1/4-inch curling iron and apply Fekkai Coiff Ocèanique Tousled Wave Spray, scrunching hair with a diffuser to create texture.

3. Following the line of your ear to the crown of your head to place the ponytail, leave a few pieces to fall in front of your face. To secure the look, spritz a long-lasting hairspray for all night hold.
