Size Matters: Adjustable Breast Implants
No one's denying it: there are plenty of situations where size does matter. And getting breast implants happens to be one of them. After making the decision to boost up your bust (its a ladys personal choice, after all), the next big step is to select a cup size. Unfortunately, this can result in buyers remorsea recent study shows that 34% of breast augmentation surgeries are revision procedures to change the size of previously-added implants.
Thats a lot of unnecessary pain and money, we say.
But now there might be a solution.Dr. Jeffrey Weinzberg, a Chicago-based plastic surgeon, has created a new technique (it was adapted from reconstructive breast cancer surgery practices) whereby a dime-sized port is inserted during the original augmentation surgery that connects the implant to the surface of the skin. For a three- to six-month window following the operation, patients can visit their doctors, who are able to painlessly adjust saline levels to the patients liking before removing the tube.
The ability to see the variations in the size of implants on your frame (and when post-op swelling has gone down, no less) is certainly huge leap in the world of breast augmentations, so we cant help but wonder if it will pique interest in procedure. Of course, theres still the anesthesia and recovery time, plus a slew of other factors to consider. Tell us: what do you think about this breakthrough?
