What are the proper steps to take in order to file my nails correctly?
Start at one edge of the nail and work your way to the other end in smooth, long strokes. Always file the nail in one uniform direction. You can also work your way from one end of the nail and file to the center and then do the same for the other end of the nail. Sawing the nail back and forth is a definite no-no, as this is what helps to cause chipping and splitting. Always use long, smooth strokes when filing to further prevent nail chipping.
